Steve still has a big golden ball!

Righty ho folks it’s that time of the week again. Actually it was that time of the week a good few days ago but, ach well, you know how things go! For those new to Steve’s Cosmic Musicology Challenge, here is a quick refresher of the rules.

For each test Steve (at the above link) will post 3 new questions so…

(1) Go to the music player of your choice and put it on shuffle
(2) Say the questions aloud and press play
(3) Use the song title as your answers
(4) NO CHEATING

Title your post “Cosmic Musicology: …” and link back to the latest page.

Post your response in the comment section of that week’s page.

This weeks questions, and my answers:

1. I’m addicted to? – Storm Clouds Gathering – America History X Soundtrack by Anne Dudley – Now there are two ways you could look that this. If we’re talking about the storm clouds in the sky, then yes I do like that and to watch them, although I am not such a big fan of thunder and lightening. If however you are talking about storm clouds gathering before an argument or some kind of altercation then no, I’ll steer well clear thank you. If you’re talking about storm clouds gathering in the undergarments then you know I have had one to many Brussel sprouts!

2. I wish I didn’t? – Young, Single and Sexy by Rita Ora – I have no need to wish that I didn’t at least two of these. I am just slightly on the wrong side of 40 to be classed as young anymore. I am not sexy in any shape form or fashion. I am however single and yes, sometimes I wish I wasn’t, but that’s life!

3. I would love to? – Lego House by Ed Sheeran – When things get tough here, I do wish I had a house, somewhere I could go and just clear my head. A lego house would be pretty amazing wouldn’t it, you could just tear it down and rebuild it as and when you wished. You could remodel every other week. No need for paint, just change the colour of your bricks….hey Jed, I think I feel a what if post coming on? lol

If you would like to give Steve’s quiz a try, just follow the links. What are you waiting for??? …well……..c’mon, scoot!

Ready or not, here I come Cosmic Musicology Test!

This Weeks Questions and Answers

How was your day?Busy Guy by Hans Zimmerman, The Holiday Soundtrack – I had a quick look there and thankfully all my lady bits are in order, so now we have established that I am not a guy, I can confirm that I was indeed busy today. My boss is off at the minute, so I am trying to get some of the lengthier tasks done. I’ve worked at this one for about 3 days and I am almost done. A small sense of achievement…..I think so :)

What do you want to achieve this week?By your side by Lifehouse – I’ve decided I am never going to be by anyones side, apart from my friends and family that is. Love doesn’t exist, it just makes you embarrass yourself and happy endings are something you get for an extra five bucks at a massage parlour, or so I’ve been told.

Do you enjoy your job?Only if… by Enya – I was curious as to what the answer to this question would be. Pretty good really. I enjoy my job only if I can make cups of coffee, smile, laugh and hopefully make others smile and laugh. Only if I can go home at five o’clock preferably feeling like I have accomplished something. Only if they keep paying my wages, in exchange for my promise to work as hard as I can. Only if I can cherish the two days of my weekend before I go back on a Monday and only if people promise not to ask me how my weekend was if I have a face like a bulldog sucking a wasp as that usually means it didn’t go so well. Only if I still have a job to enjoy……….

What does the Comic Musicology Test say about you….only one way you’ll find out…..get on it like a car bonnet!

P.s Steve, thanks to one of your posts I purchased Sia – 1000 Forms of Fear, I’m loving the song Fair Game, although it has not yet trumped Hunger of the Pine (Alt-J)for most listened to.

Cosmic Musicology Test – Hooray Hooray

One of Steve’s Golden Balls!

I stole Steve’s big golden ball, rolling it down the road was a bit of a nightmare, but I made it home and I don’t think anyone saw me. It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes him to notice. This can only mean one thing, yes indeed, it’s a new edition of his Cosmic Musicology Test.

A refresher of the rules:

For each test Steve will post 3 new questions so…

(1) Go to the music player of your choice and put it on shuffle

This weeks questions: (oh and my answers):

1. Christmas or New Year?Angel sung by Andrea Begley – That’s got to be Christmas then, because that is what Angels remind me of. New Year is more of an angle, as in the angles you have to get yourself into to either receive or duck the New Year advances of the drunk men wearing beer goggles!

2. Halloween or Fireworks Night?Barbara Streisand by Duck Sauce – I don’t really get the difference between these two. I guess here Fireworks night is not such a big deal and both are really just an excuse to get your bangers out…..or is it sparklers. Regardless, I’m picking Halloween, a party in full blast, this song at full volume, and some random drunk in the corner snoggin a pumpkin, what could be better…Just for clarification I have no experience of this, honest!

3. Summer or Winter? – Paradise by Coldplay – The name of the song would suggest it would be summer right? Long sandy beaches, clear blue seas and plenty of sunshine. For me paradise is a cold night where you are warm inside and can hear the rain and wind batter the windows. All snug and wrapped up, cup of coffee in hand and a good DVD to watch. One condition tho, there must be no ice or snow to be seen :)

Now it’s up to you, if you too would like a shot at Steve’s golden ball, feel free to add your own answers into the mix. You can find all the information you require HERE!

This weeks questions and my answers:

1. Beer or wine?(Interlude 3) by Alt-J – Some people may indeed use an interlude to peel themselves off the sofa and head to the fridge for more beer or wine. Me, well I’m pretty much a non drinker, but I’ll have that bag of nibbles you have in your other hand :)

2. Sweet or Savoury?Freedom by Paloma Faith – Oh I like this answer, doesn’t that pretty much give me carte blanche to stuff my fat little face with anything I damn well please. Sweet, savoury….ah just give me one of everything!

Chipmunk Cheeks

3. Morning or evening?Storms in Africa by Enya – Who cares ffs, we’re talking storms in Africa, anytime would be a good time, nuff said!

If you would like to give this quiz a try for yourself, click on the ink and follow the yellow brick road, or the trail of crumbs I left behind……….

Week 7 of Seven Weeks of Weird!

7weird

So this is it, the last ever post for Mental Mama’s roller coaster challenge.  It’s been enjoyable, but it’s also been hard, because even though you might think you are weird when someone asks you why, it makes you question if you actually are. Turns out I am not as bad as I thought I was, but best of all, I now know I am not the only weirdo on the planet.

Out of all the questions I probably found this one the hardest, because after all my life is not that exciting. But here we go anyway.

Weirdest Random Fact About Yourself.

I’ve got nothing. I’ve thought about it for most of the day and I’ve got nothing. Plain and simple. I then started to think about what other people might say or think and the only thing I could come up with is that I am shy and self conscious. Let me explain. For most of my life I have been called a variety of names like header, wingnut, eejit and goofball. Although each word looks different, they all mean the same thing, I am a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic. If there is mischief to be made I am usually never far away and if there is raucous laughter, I will either be the subject of it or the cause of it . I feel comfortable in my interactions with people I know, more so if they do not know me very well.

For all the reasons above, externally I appear to be very outgoing and the life and soul of the party, so people are genuinely surprised when they find out the extent of both my shyness and self consciousness.

I know it’s not all that weird, but honestly it’s all I’ve got.

Thank you Mama for running this challenge, and believe me, challenge was the appropriate word for it :)

Other things to Note

I know I’m really behind on both my reading, writing and commenting but you’ll have to bear with me. I’ve been running on full steam for the last 4 weeks and mentally I think I am at the end of my tether. I’m going to take a couple of days breathing space (which probably means I will be back tomorrow night ffs!) and try and get my head together. I’m even trying to negotiate a day of work. What I wouldn’t give for a full day of having to do nothing at all!

So on that note, I’ll probably see you tomorrow ;)

Cartoon Craziness Challenge – Week 4

Cartoon Craziness Challenge Banner

You awesome people managed to submit a total of 10 entries last week, and there is even hope that Rob will still get one in bringing the total to 11!! We have some new joiners, welcome aboard, the more the merrier :)

Please remember during the week when the challenge is running to check out the CCC page from my links at the top, this is where you will find all the amazing entries. This week was really fun, seeing everyones interpretation of Superhero!

Ok, so the theme for this week is Kids and Pets, as suggested by Diana over at Trying to Make Things Right. Mama was all over this, she loved it, you’d think she had a special cat or something, whereas me, well I have nothing no kids or pets so I was like WTF, waggling my index finger and everything. Then I thought hang on a minute, I have imagination so I can draw what I would like my pet to be, or what I thought my kid would look like if I had one.

As always this challenge is open to interpretation, as in your interpretation. The main Mama and I are not here to judge, just to participate and laugh with you :)

This is NOT a drawing competition, it’s all about having fun and it’s for people of all levels of drawing. On the first week Tim drew me a stick cat. He wasn’t that pleased, I personally thought it was awesome, because he took the time to join in and the kitty was cute. Mama and I don’t want anyone to feel they are not good enough, because we think you are.

As always, create a post that showcases your masterpiece to the whole world and remember to add a link back to this weeks challenge post which then creates a ping back. Throughout the week I will update the Cartoon Craziness Challenge Page with all the entries for that week so far.

Good luck and thank you for supporting this madness!!

Here are this weeks questions and my answers:

I Know I Can – Self Esteem by The Offspring – F@&k! Of all the answers there are in the world, this new test would have to pick that! Self esteem is one of the things I don’t have in abundance and at the age I am now I had pretty much given up hope of ever having any! Perhaps my new job and no longer dressing like a tomboy are the things that are going to define me!

I Know I Can’t – The Bones of You by Elbow – I know I can’t jump the bones of you until I get some self esteem perhaps? I reside in a vicious circle! :)

I Know I Might Be Able To? – Nightmares on Wax – Les Nuits – Steve, you broke the quiz, I’m speechless and we all know that’s a first for this challenge. Ok here we go, I want to go to Madame Tussauds the Wax Museum, I’ve said it for a while. When I go I’ll take my low self esteem while dressed in my new girl clothes and try to jump the bones of the waxwork of Orlando Bloom dressed as Legolas from Lord of the Rings, probably getting arrested in the process. Now if that doesn’t give you nightmares nothing will!

The Questions

This week’s questions have been provided by my favourite person who is Not A Punk Rocker Sheena. Let’s give it a whirl;

How do I look today? – Search and Destroy – Skunk Anansie (The Sucker Punch Soundtrack) – Believe me there are many days when if you were to get in my way that I would have a face like either a bulldog sucking a wasp, or one that actually could seek you out to destroy. It’s called hormones, deal with it! This is actually quite a good rage song too, rather conducive to machete wielding, not that I ever would of course. *Smiles sweetly and polishes halo!*

What should I wear tonight? – Chocolate Girl – Deacon Blue – *falls off the chair laughing* All I could think of when this came up was a big lad saying to me after I had asked him what he wanted me to wear, “Chocolate Girl” with a big dirty wink. I must be getting old though because instead of thinking ok I’m all over that, or it’s all over me, or whatever, I’m thinking I just changed the bed clothes :)

What should I wear tomorrow? – Step Outside – The Housemartins – I do intend to step outside at some point tomorrow, mostly due to the fact that I have to go to work. However, despite the fact that neither I or apparently my Itunes have any idea what I will be wearing, I can assure you it will involve clothes!

~

I actually just realised that I like this quiz for more than the fact that the musical mysterons who reside in the centre of my Itunes like to guide me, but also because I get to listen to great tunes I perhaps have not heard for a while.

~

If you would like to try the music challenge for yourself, then you can find all the information for this week’s HERE!

On to this weeks questions:

I am so bad at?

Intro – Alt J – Thats actually pretty accurate, I am bad at intro’s, especially personal introductions. I hate walking into a room full of strangers on my own and tend to get very tongue tied and embarrassed when meeting new people. When I get to know you though it’s a whole different kettle of fish!

I am so good at?

Fun and Games – Trevor Morris from The Tudors Soundtrack – That’s also spot on. I love fun and games especially with my two friends Udders and Monkey, we’re usually up to no good. I think though that since my injury and the way things are changing at home I am not as fun as I used to be, too much going on in the top box.

I want to be good at?

Dreams Don’t Turn to Dust – Owl City – I have, or had lots of dreams. Some of them I have given up on because sometimes life changes and it’s not always for the better. It would be nice to say we can put our dreams on hold, but sometimes we have to be realistic, time is after all marching on. I still dream that one day I will win the lottery, that one I am not letting go of!!

Check out this weeks post for some of the other great entries and if you’d like to join in you would be more than welcome. I promise Steve doesn’t bite!

This Weeks Questions

1. If I ruled the World?Hurt U by Dusted – I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone. If I ruled the world I’d want to stop all the pain and fighting, a task which seems impossible. I would make people pay for their misdemeanors, but as it’s hard to imagine a world without crime I would have to devise a rather clever and flawless penal system. All I can think right now is, am I ever glad I don’t rule the world!!

2. If only I could? – Freshy by Will.I.am – I’d love to feel all freshy and alive every morning on waking up. Sadly for me it’s more like, WTF!? Shut that alarm clock up before it flies through the air to meet Mr Wall!

3. If I had a million dollars? Telephone and Rubber Band by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra – Whilst initially I looked at this and thought how random, for me it’s actually pretty spot on. I have a fetish for stationary and I love mobile phones, so were I to have a million dollars in my possession I might indeed buy a telephone and a rubber band. By the way if you have never heard of the band, well they are more of an orchestra, check them out. Brilliant easy listening!
