Week 3 of Seven Weeks of Weird!

7weirdAnd so it continues, the Wednesday Weirdness created by none other than Mental Mama herself. If you’re unsure what it’s all about, you can follow this LINK! But be afraid, be very afraid!

I’m actually beginning to think that I am not as weird as I first thought as I am having a tough time answering these questions. That said, I probably am weird, but have convinced myself that my quirks are both normal and endearing.

This weeks question asks:

Weirdest Thing You Do To Relax

Thats a bit of a weird question to ask me really, because I suffer from anxiety and also have a healthy worrying habit to contend with, so I don’t feel like I ever relax. There is always something spinning in my head.

On days when the stress all gets a little too much for me, I find the only way to release the tension is to go on a rampage and leave a trail of destruction in my wake! Doing this in real life would most certainly lead to a spell of imprisonment and shoot my anxiety levels through the roof, so I had to find another avenue through which to vent, and unsurprisingly that was GTA V!

Now I know to a lot of you this will not seem so weird, I am sure a lot of people vent theirs frustrations via gaming, but seriously, it’s the wackiest thing I could come up with.

Ginge
How did you know it was me?

Owing to the fact my disguise was so good I figured they would never realise it was me who robbed the convenience store, or stole the cars! Then I realised I was still ginger, WTF, back to the drawing board!

Black
Wait, are those my knickers?

My second attempt was a little more successful, however I seemed to attract the wrong kind of men.

Starsky and Hutch
Starsky and Hutch eat your heart out!

My third and final attempt was totally successful! No one in their right minds was ever going to recognize me dressed as a girl, high heels and all! After many attempts I was finally able to master the Starsky and Hutch slide without showing my Knickers!! Sometimes though, not even gaming is enough to help you relax. On those days, well there is nothing else for it but to revert to the old fashioned method of sitting on the toilet and having a serious think about where your life is going!!

Indie Loo
Ah balls, that better not be the end of the role!

Till next week Eejits :)

Week 2 of Seven Weeks of Weird

7weird

It’s the day after hump day, and also the second week of the 7 weeks of weird challenge. I’m a day late, but as someone rather intelligent once said, ‘better late than never’. Mental Mama, please forgive me, I will be on time next week, honest!!

Weirdest thing about you that other people don’t usually know.

I did look at this question last night and I thought long and hard about it, my brain even hurt a little. The conclusion I came to, well I couldn’t actually think of anything weird about me that people don’t already know, it just seems to be universally accepted that I am a little off kilter sometimes.

So here instead are five weird facts about me that I am sure someone out there does not know:

  • I don’t take Sugar in tea or coffee – This seems to amaze people. They assume, albeit wrongly, that because I am on the slightly larger scale of the spectrum that I must have about 5 spoonfuls of the sweet stuff per cup. My answer of ‘I don’t take sugar thanks’, was always met with a ‘Really?!’. I used to answer with ‘Yes, I’m sweet enough’ but these days it’s ‘yes, because clearly I am fat enough!’
  • My Favourite Film is a Cartoon – I don’t mean a Disney or Pixar cartoon. I mean a cartoon of CGI quality born from a Video game. Final Fantasy: Advent Children, is my most watched film ever, with The Lord of the Rings Trilogy coming in a close second.
  • I’m addicted to Stationary – I LOVE stationary, like I mean, I really LOVE stationary. I have lost count of how many notebooks and pens are knocking about my abode, but you can rest assured that only a few will have any writing in them.
  • My grammar is terrible!! – But you’ll know that anyway if you read my blog.
  • I’m a virgin – Virgin on the ridiculous that is! (I just threw that one in to see if you were still awake!)

So there you have it, I might be weird, but it feels wonderful! :)

Cartoon Craziness Challenge!

Ah Feck
No one said I was good ffs!

I like to draw, but more often than not they are complete shite and never seen by the outside world. I did share a couple on here a while back, with the intention of drawing more, but as usual, time is a factor.

A couple of weeks ago, Mental Mama said one of her goals was to do something creative, so I challenged her to draw me a happy alien. I never for one minute actually though she would, but she did and the result had me grinning like a cheshire cat. You can see it HERE.

So tonight while conversing in the comments I again challenged her to draw me a picture. The theme for this week, ‘A Cat in a Hat’. I also said I might join in, because after all, it’s kind of unfair to issue a challenge to someone else that you would not undertake yourself.

I then decided, cos I’m random, that I might like to throw the challenge out there to the greater blogsphere should anyone else like to join in. You don’t have to be able to draw, I mean I can’t and I’m going to give it a go. You don’t have to worry either if you are the next budding Picasso, everyone is welcome. I think it will be fun to see what people can come up with.

So, if you would like to throw caution to the wind and prime your crayons, you have until Sunday to complete this challenge.

You can let us know about your drawings either in the comment section or via Ping back, it will however mean that you have to create a post on your own blog and expose your crazy crayon antics to all your followers. You can also tag it ‘Cartoon Craziness Challenge’, I’m sure someone someday will explain the tagging system to me and I’ll find them.

Who knows, if it’s popular I might even make it a regular feature.

On your marks, get set….GO!!

Week 1 of Seven Weeks of Weird

7weird
Be a part of the weird and wonderful!!

A little while back I met a crazy woman, most of you already know her, but for those of you who don’t, she goes by the name of Mental Mama, and is the brains behind Mental in the Midwest, a rather amusing blog that would be a great addition to your reader.

Anyways, she was starting this project for July called 7 weeks of weird and I, thinking that it would be a great idea, said I’d be as a game as a badger for that particular challenge. I commented, she commented, I commented some more and so did she. Copious amount of following ensued and we’ve been blog buddies ever since.

The truth is, I then forgot all about the challenge until she posted a reminder on her blog. I then forgot about it all over again, because lets face it, the inside of my head is a minefield at present and could go off at any time. Thankfully, Not a Punk Rocker has a better memory and reminded me with her post today.

If you would like to check out and join in with the 7 weeks of weird, then click on the picture to be taken to the information page :)

Weirdest food/food combination you like that everyone else thinks is nasty

Everyone loves beans right, and by that I mean those of the baked bean variety. Little orange coloured nuggets, draped in a tomatoey sauce,  that provide a source of both fibre and fart power. What’s not to love.

Baked-beans-007

Beans are great when teamed with bread, or better still toast. However when I started to add cheese into the mix way back when, the folks in work were horrified. They thought it was a weird combination. I personally thought it was bloody great and ate it at every opportunity.

Fast forward 5 years and cheesy beans is now a favourite of many people. In fact you can even get them in a tin.

Cheesy Beans
Heinz are the dogs bollocks of beans!

The second weird combination that had everyone in a dither was boiled rice and cauliflower cheese. You see, when you say it together like that, it really doesn’t make any sense at all, but for some strange reason it tickled my tastebuds, the bland taste of the rice being lifted by the slight tang of the cheese. I actually haven’t had that in a while and I’m not even sure I would like it anymore myself, so there is only one way to find out.

Looks like tomorrow nights tea is sorted. Give it a go, you know you want to!

Steve’s Music Mix: F@*king Football!

Steve Says
Steve playing spot the ball!!

Okay, so perhaps the title of Steve’s Music Mix was not quite as I put it in my heading, but I am sick sick sick of football already, and now even my most favourite music quiz ever has become possessed! Shame on you Steve, I owe you a Glasgow kiss!

Before I get onto the matter in hand, here are a few important notes for you, if you care:

  • I’m behind on my reading AGAIN! What a surprise, it seems to be a weekend thing. I’ll get there.
  • I appear to be unfollowing some blogs without pressing unfollow, if you catch my drift. I can only assume it is a little quirk in WordPress. If you’ve not seen me for a while or I did become adrift from your shenanigans, please let me know!
  • Thank you to all the new followers, and welcome :)
  • My copy of the marvelous Sean Smithsons  book arrived today. I cannot wait to get started. If you have missed out on the delight that is the Office Inbetweener, you can find him HERE.

This weeks Questions!

I don’t want England to Win Because? – Storms in Africa – Enya – I am doubtful this would happen if England didn’t win, I mean isn’t it kind of expected that they won’t. After all they are one of my teams in the work sweep stake, so I’ve pretty much obliterated any hope they had. Not hard to tell this quiz is from a Scots man tho :P

My goal is? – Viking Death March – Billy Talent – Ok you’re on. If England win the World Cup I will gather together a few of my friends, well Udders and Monkey anyways cos they are the only ones mad enough, and we’ll do a Viking Death March up Royal Avenue in Belfast.

Which team will win? – Cloud of Stink – Biffy Clyro – Oh how I laughed, cos I’m stupid like that sometimes, but all I could think about was overdosing on Brussel Sprouts and blowing all the other teams off the pitch! Now that certainly would be a cloud of stink.

Over to you……………..

Steve’s Music Mix – Too much or Too Little?

SteveDJ
Shake ya Booty!!

I missed last week’s quiz, I did try, honest I did, but the brain was not quite working the way I wanted it to and when the Music Spectres sent me three challenges in a row with regards to my songs, I went into meltdown and gave up. I am hoping that the new week and the extra day off at the weekend due to the bank holiday will have refreshed the old heed sufficiently enough to help it perform.

A Little Rule Refreshment

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

This Weeks Questions

I’m full of….? – Andvari – Sigur Rós – Wikepedia says that according to Norse mythology Andvari means ‘careful one’. I like to think I am careful about lots of things. I wish though I had been more so when I was younger, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I’m lacking…? – Playa Boi – Cher Lloyd – Hmmm define playa boi? I play with lots of boys (well men) on the Xbox, but yes I do lack that one special Playa Boi, for ummm, errr, other games……like Monopoly!

I’m okay for…? – Pulling Teeth – Newton Faulkner – I am so not ok with pulling teeth, mine or anyone elses. I used to have a thing for Magowan’s Toffee Bon Bon’s, they are gorgeous, but I have not eaten one since the day I lost half a tooth to my love affair!

Anyhow it’s a good song, so I’ll just leave you with it…….wanna join in? Check out the links above, Steve will welcome you with open arms. If you’re too lazy, you can also click HERE!

The Questions

This week’s questions have been provided by my favourite person who is Not A Punk Rocker Sheena. Let’s give it a whirl;

How do I look today? – Search and Destroy – Skunk Anansie (The Sucker Punch Soundtrack) – Believe me there are many days when if you were to get in my way that I would have a face like either a bulldog sucking a wasp, or one that actually could seek you out to destroy. It’s called hormones, deal with it! This is actually quite a good rage song too, rather conducive to machete wielding, not that I ever would of course. *Smiles sweetly and polishes halo!*

What should I wear tonight? – Chocolate Girl – Deacon Blue – *falls off the chair laughing* All I could think of when this came up was a big lad saying to me after I had asked him what he wanted me to wear, “Chocolate Girl” with a big dirty wink. I must be getting old though because instead of thinking ok I’m all over that, or it’s all over me, or whatever, I’m thinking I just changed the bed clothes :)

What should I wear tomorrow? – Step Outside – The Housemartins – I do intend to step outside at some point tomorrow, mostly due to the fact that I have to go to work. However, despite the fact that neither I or apparently my Itunes have any idea what I will be wearing, I can assure you it will involve clothes!

~

I actually just realised that I like this quiz for more than the fact that the musical mysterons who reside in the centre of my Itunes like to guide me, but also because I get to listen to great tunes I perhaps have not heard for a while.

~

If you would like to try the music challenge for yourself, then you can find all the information for this week’s HERE!

Steve’s Music Mix – The Good Will Out…

On to this weeks questions:

I am so bad at?

Intro – Alt J – Thats actually pretty accurate, I am bad at intro’s, especially personal introductions. I hate walking into a room full of strangers on my own and tend to get very tongue tied and embarrassed when meeting new people. When I get to know you though it’s a whole different kettle of fish!

I am so good at?

Fun and Games – Trevor Morris from The Tudors Soundtrack – That’s also spot on. I love fun and games especially with my two friends Udders and Monkey, we’re usually up to no good. I think though that since my injury and the way things are changing at home I am not as fun as I used to be, too much going on in the top box.

I want to be good at?

Dreams Don’t Turn to Dust – Owl City – I have, or had lots of dreams. Some of them I have given up on because sometimes life changes and it’s not always for the better. It would be nice to say we can put our dreams on hold, but sometimes we have to be realistic, time is after all marching on. I still dream that one day I will win the lottery, that one I am not letting go of!!

Check out this weeks post for some of the other great entries and if you’d like to join in you would be more than welcome. I promise Steve doesn’t bite!

Showdown at Big Sky

548880_373581799380199_1150984336_n_large

Taken from todays Daily Prompt:

Showdown at Big Sky

How do you handle conflict? Boldly or Directly? Or, do you prefer a more subtle approach.

I personally favour the running away approach. For this method to be successful there need not be screaming, crying or flailing of arms, they are entirely optional and a matter for personal choice.

There is also the ‘Ostrich’. I’m good at that one too, although instead of burying my head in sand it’s usually my pillow.

Unlike a kettle I tend to go off the boil rather quickly. I’ll get myself all worked up about something and start to put my point across, but if someone then counteracts me, while starting a gentle rolling boil themselves, I tend to back off, whether I am right or wrong.

It’s one of the many pet hates I have about myself and I am sure it most likely stems from a lack of confidence. I need to be able to learn to put my point across, without losing the plot and boiling over, something that thankfully I don’t do all that often.

If all else fails, go into a dark room and have a serious think about where your life is going until such times as the conflict situation has subsided.

I’ve been doing this for years and I still have no idea where I am headed, so best of luck!

Imagine!

640px-IMAGINATION_by_archanN
‘Imagination’ by Mehdinom

I imagine sometimes that I can slice off the top of my head as easily as I do that of a hard boiled egg. Why, I hear you ask, would you want to do that? and to be fair to you, that is a very good question.

I imagine my brain is like a patchwork quilt, made up of all different little scraps of information, my substitute for material. Over the years, due to use, various little bits of the quilt have become ragged and worn, while others remain intact, hardly touched or used (most likely anything to do with mathematics).

It’s still useful and does it’s job, but I want it to grow. I want it to continue to evolve and become something magical. I want to take out the quilt and wash it, start afresh, be able to rectify my mistakes and grow into something more than I am now.

“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”
― Maria Montessori

I believe I do have imagination (in small doses). My mind is a weird, wonderful and sometimes scary place. My problem is that I lack the courage to send it forth into the world. I still hold back on some of the things I want to say lest I meet with disapproval and disappointment. Like too many things I reign it in, say / write nothing and then end up falling out with myself and the world in general.

So I shall imagine I have the courage to face my fears!

Written for Don Charisma’s Prompt – Imagine.
