In My Music Bubble

I decided it was time to update my music page, it’s been all go in the comments, however the main page has become a little lack luster and out of date.

My music library has continued to grow mainly with thanks to Ndorfman and Joe who through introducing me to Spotify have helped broaden my musical tastes.

I have so many favorites now it would be a hard task to list but a few here, that said, see below in the comments for many great suggestions from the three of us, and if you want to listen in on Spotify, I can be found here, The Indecisive Eejit

Please feel free to join in the discussion below and add your suggestions for tunes you think we might like, we are always open to new ideas :)

  1. Back from vacation. Much needed vacation. I like your last suggestion. Soothing.

It’s Friday and I feel pretty good so am going to suggest an upbeat one for this week. It’s older and I’m surprised I haven’t suggested it yet. It’s by an artists called La Roux and the song is Bullet Proof. I don’t really like any of the other songs on her album this song is on. But this one I dig. It has a ton of views on YouTube so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve heard it before. Just in case you haven’t…

    • I’m glad you guys had a good holiday :)

I like that, I’m pretty sure I have heard remixes of it, but I’m not sure I had heard the original until now. I have to say though that the whole time I watched the video I was captivated by her eyeshadow…and not in a good way lol

It’s been a good day so I’m going to stick with the upbeat theme, don’t think it’s been shared before, but to be honest there are so many songs now a duplicate somewhere along the line is almost inevitable lol

  2. Now that made me laugh. It’s from a few years ago so maybe the eye shadow was in fashion back then?

And with 368 million views, it looks like basically everyone knows of this song…except of course me. Never heard of her or this song before. I like it. Catchy. Good choice.

Aimee Mann just came out with a new album. I was thinking about what song to suggest and decided to listen to her new album for the first time. I’ve been listening to it for about 15 minutes and haven’t gotten past the first song. I keep replaying it. So my choice this week was easy to find. The album is Mental Illness and the song is called, “Goose Snow Cone.”

    • OMG I really like that one. I’m not sure I know Aimee Mann, I’m fairly sure I’ve probably heard her songs but perhaps never knew they were her. I’m going to add the whole album to Spotify so I can hear it all.

It’s getting so hard to remember now what we have and have not suggested. I usually refer to Steve’s playlist.

This week I’m going to go for Jonah Lewie, Stop the Cavalry is one of my favourite Christmas tunes, but recently I discovered this one…I can’t even describe why I like it :)

  3. I can describe why he is likable…he embodies awesomeness. It’s been awhile since I’ve heard this song. Thanks for reminding me how great it is.

And my choice for this week is “While You Stand,” by Michael Nau. You are right, it’s hard to remember at times what we’ve suggested. I thought I had suggested this but couldn’t find it anywhere on this page or on the music playlist on Spotify so I’m assuming I haven’t. Anyway, something about it I really like. Soothing, simple, melancholy. I just like it.

    • I’ve a problem this week, I moved my computer so I no longer have speakers at the minute. Thankfully I was able to check this out on Spotify and play remotely through my Ipod, luckily for you it was worth the effort lol

I liked it, nice and laid back. My kind of thing.

I’ve been doing this challenge the last couple of weeks for Matt over on The Book Blogger. He puts up tunes each week and you have to write about it, as in use it as your muse I suppose. Last week was a tune from Kodaline. Although I had heard of the band I had never heard of this song. I have to say I liked it. It led me to write a short story on concrete boots, but that’s another story lol

  4. Sounds like a fun idea. That song, well I’m not sure about it. Upon first listen it was ok to me. Reminds me a bit of Coldplay. Loved me some Coldplay when they first came out. Nothing from them since their debut album has done much for me however. Anyway, I shall give Kodaline a second listen.

As for me, I’m going with Tu Fawning’s “Anchor.” Heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and immediately put it on repeat.

    • I like that, it’s gone onto the play list. The singers voice reminds me of someone else but I’m not quite sure who, it’s got a nice vibe to it.

I’m not sure what I am going to share this week, works been so busy I haven’t been listening to anything new and it’s getting to the stage where I find it hard to remember what I have already shared. We’ve amassed quite a collection of songs :)

I’m going to go for Laurence Fox, he’s an actor but brought out an album, I was sceptical I have to say, but I actually quite like the whole album. There are two songs that spring to mind for inclusion, Headlong and Rise Again, this time around I chose Rise Again, but have a listen to some of the others : )

  5. Well if you ever get to the stage where you’ve grown bored of this I fully understand. It has been going on for a couple of years. Fox has a good voice. I’m going to have to listen to this again. It almost sounds like Coldplay to me again. Maybe I’m secretly obsessed with Coldplay.

For my song, I’m going with Sylvan Esso and her song “Die Young.” Heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it’s just great. The more I hear it the more it grows on me.

    • No I like it, I might just not get to do it as often as I like. The reason I don’t approve your comments earlier is because I would forget, so I leave them unread and then I get to them eventually.
Coldplay I have to say I was not a fan of, but they are going on me as time goes on.
I like the song by Sylvan Esso, but not enough at this stage that I would add it to a playlist. Have noted the name for future reference though to check out some of her other tunes. She reminds me of a cross between Lorde and a younger sounding Lana Del Ray.
This week I can’t go without putting up a song from the new alt-J album that was released. I was eagerly awaiting it’s arrival and am pleased that it was worth the wait. I am sure I will have recommended them before and I fully appreciate they would not be to everyone’s taste, but if you don’t listen you won’t know :)

  6. I literally just heard Lorde for the first time this week as they came out with a new album. Really like it. In fact, I was probably at some point going to suggest a song by them. Them? Not sure if it’s a them or if the singer is like Grimes in which it’s really just her. The only Coldplay album I like is their first. I liked your suggestion. I will need to listen to them a bit more. I thought I had heard of them before so I checked my spreadsheet of albums I want to listen/have already listened to (yes, I am a total nerd) and didn’t see them on there so I must be mistaken.

Long time no suggestion! I normally do my suggestions on Fridays as you have noticed and the past couple of weeks I have been swamped with life and work. But I’m back and back with a vengeance. I heard the song I’m about to suggest for the first time on Monday and I’ve been listening to it non-stop. It just so darn catchy in my opinion. Plus, you can never go wrong with Mavis Staples singing the chorus. It’s by Benjamin Booker and is called “Witness.” How it only has 80k views on YouTube is beyond me.

    • Ah see now I’m just so so about this one. It’s something I would have on in the background but I probably wouldn’t add it to a playlist. It’s catchy there is no doubt, he’s perhaps a little too raspy for me, I’ll give it a few more listens and see.
It’s fine regarding the break, you know how bad I can be sometimes. Life sure does get in the way the almighty pain in the ass that it is lol
This week I’m suggesting Everything Everything and the song Sun / Spring / Winter Dread.
I don’t believe I have suggested it before, and I am not altogether sure where I first heard it. It was possibly a discover weekly addition that made it to a permanent playlist.
It’s quirky, but I think that’s what I like about it.

  7. Nice one!! One of those songs that totally reminds me of someone but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Regardless, I really like it. I’m fairly certain I would have remembered this one had you suggested it before.

Oh, you’re crazy!! To each their own…but crazy. And obviously I mean no offense. But crazy!!! It’s
so good. I’m a bit early this week but I’m listening to Haim’s latest album and it is solid and I know I’ll end up just suggesting it on Friday so I might as well do it now. Really liking the song, “Nothing’s Wrong.”

    • The link didn’t work for me so I had a look in Spotify. It’s funny I’ve heard Haim mentioned a lot, but I have never actually listened to anything from then, although I am sure there have been songs on the radio.
I like this actually so will have to listen to more, they remind me of someone else but I can’t think who, maybe a quirky cross between Alisha’s Attic and Wilson Phillips lol

This week my suggestion is a Lana Del Rey track from her new album Lust for Life, I couldn’t find it on you tube so you’re probably going to have to Spotify it. Lana Del Rey, even though I don’t know all of her songs has one of those voices that automatically gives me goose bumps and on this one she sings with Stevie Nicks, so what’s not to love.
