Who turned up the heat?

It’s been sweltering here this last few days and it’s taking it’s toll. I remarked to my friends last night that I feel like I am turning into an old lady, I’m hardly able to make it past 10.30 these days without my eyes starting to close. To someone who is a night owl, that’s a complete nightmare. To top that, I’ve been waking up at 6am, seriously WTF! that’s the middle of the night, and not good when you have to go to work and spend 8 hours in a hot office. Oh the joys, I am most definitely not a fan of summer.

The weekend went well, I had two whole days off from the chores that I usually undertake, the only problem with that is it still needs to be done. I’m off tomorrow and already my day is full of bookwork for the Fathership, and all the housework, I’m worried there are not going to be enough hours in the day.

The two days at the weekend are the first time I have stayed at my Sisters on my own since my leg injury in 2012. It was nice to not have any worries, but I still wasn’t able to shut off thinking about what was going on at home.

I bought a hedgehog, not a real live one of course, but a little bread roll that bears similarities and has picked up the name. I enjoyed it sitting in the sunshine with a chicken salad. Eventually, despite the breeze, the heat drove me back indoors.

All to soon it was time to head home and after a conversation  with the Fathership I was a little unsure what I was going home to. Initially frosty, it seemed to calm down, I think the Mothership was glad she knew where her next meal was coming from. Beans and toast it would seem, is not acceptable fodder for day to day.

I’m hoping for slightly cooler weather to come, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to survive in the soaring temperatures. Rain is forecast for the weekend, unfortunately, so are thunderstorms, there’s just no pleasing me is there.

Onwards and upwards, time to kick back and catch up on some of the My Kitchen Rules I missed, whilst fanning myself with last weeks TV magazine. I’m such a classy girl :)

Hope all is well with you lot, till next time eejits!

  1. Excessive heat and humidity just drains energy – so I sympathize! hopefully the rain and storms will cool it off to comfortable – so stop complaining! Lol

I’m glad you had a good time away – sorry that it was a bit of a frosty return – too bad that can’t be used to actually cool oneself off, eh? ;)

I’m sure things will right themselves – mores the pity you can’t schedule more “you time” and not have all the chores and tasks as usual.

Take care my friend – sending you cyber hugs!

      • LOL — we are creatures of discontent. We bitch like mad in the winter – and long for the summer – and then when it arrives – full force – we whine and moan – LOL — “adjustment problems” – it’s like too extreme and we can’t adapt quickly enough or well enough.

You’re not alone in this – it might just be a universal genetic “faulty wiring coding” XD

Hope the weather adjusts itself so it’s more bearable ….. here we’re entering a hot and humid week – so I hear ya on the “uncomfortable level” — sheesh. ;)

  2. Hot stuff here in southern Spain as well. It’s way over 40C (100+F) in the afternoons and some cities are on red alert for excessive temperatures. Beans on toast ? :D <3

  3. I understand, truly I do as it 106 here in Northern California. Come Saturday July 4th, we get lucky as it will only be 95 for Saturday nights fireworks. I think I’ll practically feel like a Polar Bear. Hang in there Jul’s.

    • I don’t know California very well as in what is Northern etc, but are you anywhere near San Benito County?
My friend in the States keeps telling me I am a lightweight and regaling me with his temperatures, I’m like no fecking way could I stick that lol

      • Hi Jul’s. I’m 20 minutes North of Sacramento. San Benito County is 2 to 3 hours South of my location. It can get very hot there too. But this should help… San Benito County is South of San Francisco, and I’m Northeast of San Francisco. It was around 90 degrees at fireworks time (about 9:30) last night for our Fourth of July Celebration (or Independence Day) up here near the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Kind of gives you some idea of how hot it can get around here, although that’s a bit extreme for us, even by our standards. :O)

  4. Oh, I am so with you on not enjoying the summer! But I’m so chuffed to hear of 2 whole days just for you to disconnect from your norm! What a gift. I’m sure if you get more days, you’ll adjust to that time quite quickly! How cute are hedgehog bread rolls?! OMG.

    • The hedgehog bread rolls are cute and very tasty. It was nice to get a couple of days away, but as I said to Edwina I was a little bored, I didn’t quite know what to do with myself lol
Things hadn’t been great when I was away either so I walked back into a bit of a storm in a teacup, but oh well, that’s the price I pay I guess lol

      • Small price to pay to remember that you’re actually a free person and that you’re only walking in to storms in a teacup out of your own free choice because you care. Like I said, you’ll get better at remembering how to be free when you take these little pockets of time for yourself. I’m so encouraged that you had the chance to be bored! When is the last time that happened!? :)
